Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how [Company Name, LLC] ("Waystone", "we", "us") collects, uses and shares information when you use the Waystone Offroad app and related services (the "Service").
What we collect
Account information: your email address, trail name (handle) and password. Passwords are stored securely by our hosting provider; we never see them.
Profile information you choose to add: your rigs (vehicle, build details, gear), rig photos, experience level, privacy setting, and a general home area.
Location: with your permission, the app uses your device's location to show nearby trails, follow a trail, verify check-ins, pin hazards and points of interest, report cell signal, and record tracks. If you set a home area, we store only a rounded, general area (about 1 km), never your exact address. Your home area is shown to others only if your profile is public.
Recorded tracks: tracks you record are stored on your device. They leave your device only if you share them, attach them to a trail, or submit them as a suggested track.
Content you post: trails, tracks, waypoints, check-ins (including the location where you checked in), reviews, photos, videos, hazard flags, tips, points of interest, cell reports and comments.
Device and usage information: basic technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, crash data, and push-notification tokens if you turn notifications on.
Purchases: if you buy a membership, Apple or Google processes the payment. We receive confirmation of your membership status, not your card details.
How we use it
To run the Service, show trails near you, sync your data across devices, show community activity and leaderboards, review submissions, send notifications you ask for, provide support, keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, improve the app, and comply with law.
What other people can see
Your trail name, level, points, and anything you post to a trail (check-ins, reviews, photos, flags, tips) are visible to other users. If your profile is public, others can also see your rigs, rig photos, home area and trail history. If your profile is private, others see only your trail name, level and points, plus anything you post to a trail.
How we share it
- Service providers who host and run the Service for us, such as Supabase (database, accounts and file storage), Expo (app updates and push notifications), Apple and Google (app distribution and payments), and map and data providers.
- Others when required by law, to protect safety, or to enforce our Terms.
- A buyer or successor if Waystone is sold or reorganized, under this policy.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your account, profile, rigs, uploaded photos and videos, and the check-ins, reviews, flags, tips and other posts linked to you. Published trails you created and community trail-status reports stay in the Service without your name. Backups are removed on our provider's normal schedule.
Your choices and rights
- Make your profile private in Me, Profile & privacy.
- Turn off location, photos or notifications in your phone's settings (some features won't work).
- Edit or delete your posts.
- Delete your account any time: Me, Account, Delete account.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, at support@waystoneoffroad.com.
Depending on where you live (for example California and other U.S. states), you may have additional rights to know, access, correct, delete or limit use of your information. We will not discriminate against you for using them. Contact us to make a request.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls on our database. No system is perfectly secure.
Changes
We may update this policy. If changes are material, we will tell you in the app.
